Ruth Sova's newest book 'Aquatic Exercise' begins with a wonderful overview about principles of exercise, intensity, heart rates (including some great handouts I have used with my students) types of aquatic programs, etc. Ruth then goes into a chaper on muscles groups. This book is very complete with facts, pictures, and easy to organize paragraphs and highlighting. What everyone is looking for is choreogrphy-well, she's got it. Pages and pages, with photos! 'Aquatic Exercise' finishes with a paragraphy on 'special concerns.' I think this book is great because it is not a HUGE manual, yet it is complete. Furthermore, it is complete enough for the beginner or intermediate instructor, yet gives a seasoned instructor like myself some new choreography ideas and some basic information that can be at my fingertips!
Aquatic Exercise - an excellent resource

This book is an excellent resource for the aquacise/water aerobics instructor. It is very detailed and covers numerous aspects of working out in the water. It offers exercises for specific muscle groups as well as describing a wide range of exercises. Then it goes on to suggest sample workout programs. It also describes various water workout equipment and how to use it effectively. I borrowed this book from another aquacise instructor and am now purchasing my own copy as I have to give hers back, and I want this book as a reference guide for myself.
