He is adopted by his uncle, a bachelor. This uncle later gets married and life changes for young Patrick. He goes through untold hardship in the hands of his uncle's wife, Mrs. Bisi, who is a nominal Christian. Though she is a deaconess in her church, she is very hostile and wicked to the poor boy. This is prompted by jealousy, and the fact that Patrick will not succumb to her lust. This goes on till the Lord, Himself, apprehends Mrs. Bisi. The story does not end here.
