This work presents the application of the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm for model order reduction of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems and PID controller tuning for DC motor control. The reduced-order model is obtained by minimizing the Integral Square Error (ISE) between the transient responses of the original high-order system and the reduced system. Results show that the GWO-based method provides improved transient response and lower ISE compared with existing techniques. Additionally, GWO is used to tune PID parameters using the ITAE performance index. Simulation results demonstrate reduced rise time and settling time, and robustness analysis confirms stable performance under parameter variations.
