Very entertaining spy novel

Set on a Spanish island, this is one of the Appleton Porter series done by Marc Lovell (Mark McShane). Apple is shown here on his first operational mission after years of poor evaluations by superiors who felt he had no potential to be a real spy. On this mission, Apple attempts to foil a KGB plot to undermine Western states by importing drugs. The plot has interesting twists and a somewhat surprising ending that readers' will find enjoyable. This was my first experience with this series and was positive enough to make me read more of them.
