Apostasy is the rejection of a code of beliefs which an individual once held as sacred. We have read in both the Old and New Testaments that people have always renounced truth for fables or humanistic ideologies for all kinds of reasons that will satisfy either curiosity or personal endeavours. Apostasy is corrupt and devious and spreads across all religious beliefs. Nevertheless, despite what cloak the apostate wears, apostasy is a sin of the flesh which is sensual, selfish, and deceptive. The aim is to seduce those who are vulnerable and who do not serve God faithfully. This book will not give the reader all there is to know about apostasy, but will explore and explain the characteristics, conception, and functions of the apostate. Paul admonished thus, "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8).The book will also explain how this behaviour affects the church and its effect on sinners. There are people who do not care what they hear on a Sunday morning so long as the music speaks to their emotions. Moreover, some pastors are influenced by music which has an alluring characteristic to inspire the people. Indeed, music attracts, encourages, and motivates the youth and adults alike. However, to depend on music to convince sinners means that those leaders no longer allow the Holy Spirit's power to convict and influence the sinner to repent (Acts 2:37). When believers are aware of this type of attitude, they should use the Scriptures to aggressively contend for the faith so that heresy and distortion will be revealed (Jude 3). In churches where apostasy is predominant, leaders normally only possess degrees especially from certain notable institutions, or hold self-proclaimed titles; but were not called or experienced the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Those persons influence members with theoretical knowledge of the gospel; but are not interested about holiness or living the life of a Christian. Although those leaders may declare that they were "born-again or regenerated" (John 3:5, Titus 3:5); their lifestyle communicates differently. ==============Dr. Barbara is a Christian Educator, Author, Licensed Counsellor, Conference Speaker and Radio Host.
