Damage to the language dominant side of the brain usually results in a condition called aphasia. In aphasia, the speech of a person is impaired. Although, any type of damage can cause aphasia, it is primarily caused by stroke. Cognitive neuropsychological techniques aim to identify the essential language skills or modules that are not functioning properly in each individual rather than putting them into a specific subtype.
