Becoming Better Analytical Thinkers

Every year, I order enough books at my discounted price for the AP Language and Composition students I teach. The Apex Learning Guide works well, with one exception. There are not enough examples of Rhetorical Device Use based on usual high school level fiction/non-fiction, so the students don't learn as much as they could. The practice tests work well, and during second semester, the book becomes a supplement to the AP Apex online testing and supplemental lessons that help the students tremendously.

Good review, guarantee at least a 3

As a 17 year old preparing for this exam, I found this book very helpful. It's loaded with rhetorical devices and many passages with detailed analysis that will help with the essay. Also has many writing prompts and different types of passages. HOWEVER, one major thing this book lacks is the multiple choice section of the exam. It merely has a superficial intro and 1 practice problem; there aren't many practice problems for the multiple choice problem, which is annoying because that's what my main weakness is. So if you're having trouble in the essay section of the test, I recommend you buy this book, however, if it's the multiple choice section, this is book will be of little service to you.
