Any Wednesday you'll find slick business tycoon John Cleves (Jason Robards) cuddling up with Ellen Gordon (Jane Fonda) in what she calls her apartment and what tax-conscious John calls his company's executive suite. It's a cozy arrangement until one Wednesday is followed by that Thursday, the day a visiting businessman from Akron (Dean Jones) shows up -- accidentally assigned to the "executive suite." From the 983-performance stage hit, Any Wednesday hits the screen with an expert cast (including Rosemary Murphy as the shrewd Mrs. Cleves, recreating her Tony-nominated Broadway performance) and an unbeatable luster that only Manhattan location filming brings. Any Wednesday sparkles like a Tiffany window display. It's a romantic-comedy gem just too tempting to pass up.

Ellen (Jane Fonda) cannot afford her apartment. John Cleves (Jason Robards), the married man with whom she has an understanding (every Wednesday), comes up with a scheme to pay for the apartment as a company location for guests. John is very thoughtful. He tells Ellen that He will be getting a divorce. "Now, where have we heard that one before?" And even gives her a diamond bracelet (which happens to have the company logo embedded).
Ditsy secretary (Ann Prentiss) sends an irate supplier (Dean Jones) to stay at the guest's location as it was designed for. As you can guess, things get convoluted from there. Who gets the girl? Who does the girl want? Does the wife (Rosemary Murphy) ever get wise? What is the importance of sleeves and balloons?
If you liked “Sunday in New York” (1993) with Jane Fonda, you will love this.
