The anthropology of the body covers a series of themes found in modern societies. In this book, the re-significations of the body generated by people who have had plastic surgery, whether to stay young, beautiful or for a gender transition, will be dealt with in an anthropological way. The description of the myth of Narcissus, the Peter Pan Syndrome and the theories of the Technobody will show how there is a modern "corpocentrism" that creates various possibilities of BEING in the body through the construction of identity. As a counterpoint, ideas that encompass the possibilities of HAVING in the body will also be discussed, analysing individuals' behaviour in the search for beauty, self-esteem, confidence, success and also self-acceptance through the gaze of others.
