(see http://www.context.org/ICLIB/IC35/Fischer.htm for a full review) Anthropolis: A Tale of Two Cities, by Daniel Fischer, is a utopian vision of a city based on the notion that people, nature, and a recognition of the interconnectedness of all life are paramount. The founders of this fictional city made two key decisions that set the stage for much else that followed: automobiles and private land ownership were eliminated. This novel has surprisingly great insight for today's global environmental crises considering that it was published in the early-mid 90's. Many of the ideas proposed would solve many of the U.S.'s predicaments. A great read for anyone interested in "greening" their lifestyle, involved in city planning, or just interested in leaving a better planet for our children.
