Another Year With Under Fives

Wendy is an older lady who works in a nursery school. When she started many years ago the emphasis was on fun and learning. She feels now that much of the fun has been taken away and the environment is now full of rules and regulations, not all of which she agrees with. So she grumbles and moans about them and she can't always keep her opinions to herself. Even if her working world was perfect with rosy cheeked, polite children, she would still find something or someone to comment about.

As the year continues the reader gets to know the staff and children from Wendy's point of view, which is not always complimentary. Working to a deadline can be stressful in any job; with children it is stressful plus unpredictable. Everyday is different, taxing, diverse, exasperating and also fulfilling.
