It was that good. Was thrown for a loop with the twists and turns. Trying not to give anything away either :) Characters were really well developed and like them a LOT!
Could be a Movie

I agree with the other reviewer in that this could have been a longer book. Wonder if Ms. Napier ever wrote a Harlequin Superromance or larger novel? This story includes so many twists that I won't ruin it for you, but suffice to say it has some surprises, both to the readers and the main characters. Interesting concept and I like the fact that Alex was a burned-out, cynical man and he changed. Good chemistry between the main characters who, due to her engagement to the hero's brother, do not "get together" (wink, wink) until close to the end of the story. Alex's mother is quite good in this story and has a pivotal role in the development of this plot. Ms. Napier's done a good story with this. Other good Napier books: The Counterfeit Secretary, Secret Admirer, Honeymoon Baby.
One of the best

From the cover:Helen knew she'd never met Alex Knight before, but he claimed they'd been lovers in Hong Kong five years ago! She would'nt have met him now if he had'nt come back to New Zealand to be best man for his brother Greg, when Greg and Helen married. Alex made it very clear he thought it would be an enormous mistak eif the marraige went ahead Helen simply thought he was crazy........I was surprised not to see a review for this book. I read it when it was first published about 15 yrs ago and I still remebered the story. It is one of the few Harlequins I felt deserved to be written in a longer version. The hero's character had a lot of depth and he alone could have filled a 1000 page epic novel. The heroine's character however does not have the same quality. But it is definitely one of the high quality books i read from this publisher.
