(Up-dated June 2024) Annie Lennox was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, on Christmas Day in 1954. She first came to prominence in the mid-to-late 1970s as a member of The Tourists. When The Tourists split, Annie and fellow band member Dave Stewart formed Eurythmics, who were hugely successful throughout the 1980s. Annie released her debut solo album DIVA in 1992.Annie has won eight BRIT Awards, six of them for British Female Solo Artist. She has also won four Grammy Awards, plus a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Into The West, which featured in the 2003 film, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of The King.For the purposes of this book, to qualify as a Top 40 hit, a single or album must have entered the Top 40 chart in at least one of the featured countries.
