Annapolis Market House : While Something of the Village Still Lingers

Annapolis had five different market houses at four different locations from 1698 to 1775. It found a permanent home at the head of the dock in 1784. That year eight men deeded Market Space to the city under one condition: the land had to be used for a market house. What was once a sleepy fishing village has evolved into a thriving city bustling with an ever-growing number of residents, tourists and workers. Today the market provides for people in every strata of Annapolis' diverse population.
