Product Description

The third collaboration of Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley with director Joe Wright, following the award-winning boxoffice successes "Pride & Prejudice" and "Atonement," is the epic love story "Anna Karenina," adapted from Leo Tolstoy's classic novel by Academy Award winner Tom Stoppard ("Shakespeare in Love"). The story unfolds in its original late-19th-century Russia high-society setting and powerfully explores the capacity for love that surges through the human heart, from the passion between adulterers to the bond between a mother and her children. As Anna (Knightley) questions her happiness, change comes to her family, friends, and community.

Ovation Applause

Having viewed most Anna Karenina visual productions; this production is a most enjoyable and artistic representation. Kiera Knightly is lovely, poised, talented. Jude Law captured Karenin's pompous austerity mimicry. Aaron Taylor - Johnson is "the most" handsome Vronsky of all, from my viewpoint. The imagery is exceptionally creative with its interspersion of scenes. Writer: Tomorrow Stoppard's adaptation stays true to most significant points of Tolstoy's masterpiece; retaining an audience level of entertainment as opposed to historical nuances. Director: Joe Wright gives the film an imperceptible flow despite the myriad of scenes changes. I will remember his name. This production earned my ovation applause.

On this date in 1595, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet was first performed (not officially published until 1597). Although the renowned tragedy was by no means the first literary story of doomed love, it coined the phrase "star-cross'd lovers" and continues to inspire heartbreaking sagas even today.
