Continuum Contemporaries give readers accessible and informative introductions to some of the most popular, most acclaimed, and most influential novels of recent years. A team of contemporary fiction scholars from both sides of the Atlantic has been assembled to provide a through and readable analysis of each of the novels in question. The books in the series all follow the same structure: a biography of the novelist, including other works, influences, and, in some cases, an interview; a full-length study of the novel, drawing out the most important themes and ideas; a summary of how the novel was received upon publication; a summary of how the novel has performed since publication, including film or television adaptations, literary prizes, and so forth; a wide range of suggestions for further reading, including web sites and discussion forums; and a list of questions for reading groups to discuss.
This remains, for me, one of the best books I've ever read. It was moving and so real and I felt that time was transcended as I read how the women took care of each other in ancient days. The ending moved me beyond words. Dinah's life was one to be remembered. Ms. Diamant's story telling is a believable account of how life must have been for the women in the days of the New Testament.

An excellent book, especially for young women to learn others' ideas to help one be mentally aware and emotionally secure with regards to one's own body.
Love it

I recommend this book to everyone that I can find! It is wonderful in that it gives the reader the imagination to look at the Bible as more than something to guide your life spiritually, but figure out a way to make the people in the pages (who you have very little information on) and they come to life. I appreciate the author for giving us this creative license to start to believe that each and every one of them could be human, much as us.
