Siblings Darylene Stern, aged seventeen, and Feliks Stern, aged nineteen, are lost in the middle of an epidemic. A virus known as the Animal Wendigo Virus has spread across states, now countries, turning humans into zombie-like creatures. Darylene and Feliks must live on their own in the Canadian wilderness, escaping from the creatures - dubbed werebies - and surviving.
