Animal History: History as If Animals Mattered

Traditional history overlooks non-human animals. But this book reinstates them as proper subjects of historical enquiry. Fourteen essays from the Journal of Animal Ethics by accomplished academics offer pioneering insights into what animal history is and how it should be done. The book is divided into sections covering the nature of animal history, selected intellectual figures, and historical controversies concerning meat eating and vivisection.
