Excellent for teaching animal names

This series of books is wonderful. First, they show a photo with a word clue, then a photo of the baby animal with its mother, giving the names for both (i.e. pig-piglet, chicken-chick, sheep-lamb, cow-calf, goat-kid, horse-foal). Research indicates that photos are better than unrealistic drawings for young children -- this is ideal for that reason. The board book itself is quite durable, and I hope it will withstand a lot of use, because it's already a favorite.
