Two books in one

I was reading another thoroughly satisfying book, when I scanned the first three pages of this one--I was hooked and had to take a detour to finish this one! It starts with strong characters, gritty prose, twisted humor and well-tortured stereotypes (A savage/noble hitman wants to retire, but...). The writing is cinematic in its approach (the author is a screen writer after all): relationships reduce to two-liners, sex is violent, and violence is way over the top--a 25-foot tall tale! "Pulp Fiction" or pulp fiction? Either way, the writing is reminiscent of Elmore Leonard--it never stands still.Halfway through--I never saw it coming--the author completely changes pace from gritty realism to supernatural thriller. The transition itself, the leaving behind of one set of literary rules to go on to play by another, is quite exciting and interesting. Once again, the action is drawn in lare pictures, and now goes from the merely outrageous, humanly possible to the surreal and "out of this world." No cliche of horror fiction is left untouched.The last third of the book, once the horror genre premises are accepted, becomes somewhat predictable and routine but still competently done.

BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ

Even though this book isn't the most realistic book i've read it's the most entertaining books I've read. I can already see it coming out at the movies one day. I really think it should too. It has all the right elements and plot to become a movie. Right now Steve Zettler is one of my fav. authors but i've only read two of his books (I think that's all his written). The same thing's happening to me with Terrill Lankford, I can only find two of his books. But anyway this book pulls it off and I'm glad to say that's it's my favorite of all-time right now. If something else takes the place of this book in my "hall of fame" of books then I'll tell ya'll. Go cop it.~~Special K

Superb mix of the supernatural with a hit man

After twenty years as an ethical hit man, the legendary Ry Caulder is ready to retire. Renowned throughout the industry as "The Consummate professional" because of his meticulous ability to keep bystanders out of his work, the weary Ry suffers from burnout. However, Ry's employers assign him one final hit, which he reluctantly accepts. Ry must assassinate his former mentor, Frederickson, who is allegedly working for a rival mob that threatens to take control of the drug business. Frederickson looks forward to a game of cat and mouse with his most successful student. He encourages his hesitant opponent to enter the fray by threatening a person cherished by Ry. However, the flaunting rises to the unbelievable when Frederickson seems to blithely go about his business after each attack by Ry. Even blowing off the head of his target fails as Frederickson visits several bars afterward. Now that he gave it his best shot, Ry finds himself under siege from a supernatural being that relishes the sport of hunting. ANGRY MOON is an entertaining satire that squares off two shooters, a professional killer against an otherworldly being in an action-packed but humorous story line. Though the characters are not fully developed, the plot never slows down even with dark twists and shockers. Horror and mystery buffs will relish Terrill Lankford's enticing thriller.Harriet Klausner

Raw entertainment at its best!

I thouroughly enjoyed this book! For those of you who like a realistic thriller with a supernatural touch, this one is for you! This one is well done, from the storyline to the charaterization. I hope to see it in movie-form some day.

Fast Paced, Action Filled Thriller

This book is plain fun. It's fast paced action as an aging hit man with a conscience, ready for retirement, is called upon for one last job, to kill his mentor. The interactions of the characters is nothing less than delightful. The action is continuous. There's not a minute's boredom with this book. We can only hope this author keeps on producing.....
