One week, I was an ordinary middle-aged housewife and the next, I was an angry middle-aged housewife on a mission. Judging from the Women's March, there were millions of us, women who looked like me, too old and exhausted to be protesting something unless it was of utmost importance. So, I got to work immediately and did what every good woman does in a crisis: I nagged. Every day after the election of 2016, something went grossly awry in the White House. What impact could I have? I was just one person. But it made me feel better to vent my fury by writing out loud in my blog showeredinmedicateddogwater.blogspot.com.I am not the only one protesting. I watched as people marched by the millions. I watched as a woman was arrested for laughing. I watched as people in wheelchairs were dragged away and handcuffed. I listened as people spoke out in the news, on social media, and on the streets. I watched as one brave woman died for her belief in freedom and equality. It is a wave of effort, each of us doing our parts to protect our Constitution, to protect our freedom, to protect the vulnerable among us. Will it turn out that my imperfect contribution to the cause can make a difference? Only if I fight alongside a million other people who battle with me against tyranny.
