Angling Sketches

By Andrew Lang

Book Overview

Angling Sketches is a collection of essays written by Andrew Lang, a Scottish writer and literary critic, about his experiences and observations while fishing. The book contains 17 chapters, each focusing on a different aspect of angling, from the intricacies of fly fishing to the joys of fishing in remote locations. Lang's writing is both informative and entertaining, as he shares his knowledge of the sport and his love of the outdoors. He also includes anecdotes and stories from his own experiences, as well as references to famous anglers and their techniques. The book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys fishing or wants to learn more about this popular pastime. There is something mysterious in loch-fishing, in the tastes and habits of the fish which inhabit the innumerable lakes and tarns of Scotland. It is not always easy to account either for their presence or their absence, for their numbers or scarcity, their eagerness to take or their ""dourness."" For example, there is Loch Borlan, close to the well-known little inn of Alt-na-geal-gach in Sutherland. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
