In this luminous, thought-provoking companion volume to the NBC television series "Angels: The Mysterious Messengers," some of our most powerfully original thinkers and spiritual leaders explore the place and meaning of angels in the modern world. Interspersed with interviews are mesmerizing true stories of angelic encounters -- flash visitations of angels to warn and comfort and heal ordinary men and women in their hours of greatest physical and spiritual need.
The general thrust of the book is good although it is wordyin spots. The authors relate various out of body experiences. For instance, some children have had near death experiences andvisions which they recalled after recovery. The work containsangellic artwork throughout. For instance, "The Annunciation"by Botticelli is depicted, as well as "Concert of Angels"by Gruenewald. The phenomenom of the famous "bright lights"is described in near-death experiences. A child named Jamiedescribes "the resurrected body floating in the thin air".Angels are hailed as a buffer between the temporal realmon earth and G-d. This book would be appreciated by terminallyill patients or persons near death. It is comforting. For this reason, I would recommend reading it or giving the workas a gift.

I have been letting all my friends and family know about this book. It is truely a gift. My best friend died of cancer at age 34. I was so angry with God. WHY?? Why take away Nancy?? In the book it explains how you can't determine ones life by one's age. How each person is put on the earth for a purpose, and once the individual has done their task given by God for them to do, then their time is up. The part about St. Bernedett really made an impact on me, since both St. Bernedett and Nancy were in their early thirties when God decided to take them and both died painful deaths from cancer. Also, the book tells how each one of us were first Spiritual beings, then Human beings, and then go back to being Spiritual beings, back to the same light we all came from, that we are all connected. I know one day I will be back with my best friend.
