A Very Good Read

This is an interesting though tragic story that slowly pulls you in. I became involved with the characters and was sorry when it ended, wishing there was a sequel, so I could read more about these people and their lives. I worked with the author for 5 years back in the '90's and became close friends with her. She is a gifted writer and I am anxiously waiting for her next book! Write on Leslie! :o)

Great Read!

I've never read Schwartz before, but will search out her other books now. This particular book was intriguing from the beginning. I guess I figured out how it must end, but kept hoping for that "happy ending." The story wouldn't have made sense if it hadn't turned out that way.

A Deep Experience

Leslie Schwartz takes us on a journey of discovery. The people in her novel are all deeply touched by a tragedy which resonates for each of them in a different way. Swartz is not afraid to have us stay with her characters through the daily experience of grief, regret, sadness. The gestures, the thoughts, the movements of her chracters' lives make real for us what they are going through. In that daily living we recognize ourselves. You will finish this book wiser than you were when you started.

Highly recommend this book

I really enjoyed this book a great deal. I've always been fond of books that had characters that I could relate to and feel a connection with. All the characters in this book seemed very authentic to me. I felt the pain of each one of them, especially Ethan. I could honestly see this happening to anybody, and indeed, have heard about these same types of situations happening in real life. I hope to read more from this very talented author.

Redemption

Worlds are built and destroyed in moments, and it is this premise which drives the narrative of Angels Crest. The story opens with the disappearance of little Nate, a tragedy that sets the whole town of Angels Crest on the cusp of despair. In the search for the boy, the personal lives of the town are exposed, and relationships are mended and broken. The strength of Angels Crest is in Schwartz's ability to show the universal struggle of the human experience without being maudlin. Her characters are strong, yet vulnerable in their endeavors to do the right thing. In following the lives of the people of Angels Crest, I found myself moved by the intensity of regret, and the grace in redemption.I strongly recommend this book for a summer must-read.
