Angels At War is a vivid recollection of World War II as experienced by William Kitchen, a member of the 511th Airborne Signal Company. The 511th was part of the 11th Airborne Division, "The Angels," and was the only Allied unit in the Pacific to use gliders as part of their mission. Mr. Kitchen, first a signalman, then a cryptographer handling high security messages for his unit, was wounded during the Japanese effort to over-run his unit. After six months of recuperation, he made his way back to the 511th by any means available rather than be reassigned to a different unit. Deeply religious to this day, Mr. Kitchen believes that God saw him through the rough times in the war. Angels At War reflects those beliefs. Readers will learn a different war than that taught in school; "Angels" is a truly enlightening first person account.
