When her mother dies, fourteen-year-old Angel has no one to turn to but Dalt, a gruff-spoken mountain man with an unsettling leer and a dark past. Angel follows Dalt to the boomtowns of the Colorado territory, where she is thrust into the hardscrabble world of dancehalls, mining camps, and saloons. From gold mines to gambling palaces, ANGEL tells the story of a girl navigating her way through life, as an orphan, a pioneer, and ultimately a miner's wife and respected madam...a story bound up with the tale of the one man in all the West who dared to love her.
Realistic, like the Author actually lived in the 1860's

"Angel", by Samantha Harte is a hidden treasure. A story of a young girl's struggle to survive when all known to her has been lost. The verbage, the detailed description of time and place makes you feel you are actually there with "Angel" every step of the way from the East Coast to the West. The author, Samantha Harte, in my opinion is an extremely talented writer. The book is the best I have ever read. From the beginning to the end, you feel as though you know Angel, and understand her need to survive no matter what method she has to use. If the Author should happen to read this, words cannot describe how much I admire your talent. The book is amazing, so well written, most believable and certainly the best reading material I have ever encountered. The book is written so that you feel as though you are living in the 1860's, complete with gold fever, dance hall's, mining camps and saloons. It deatils how people spoke in those days, how they lived and how they survived. It describes morals, marriage and homes and even medical care to such detail, you actually believe there was a girl named "Angel" and she wrote her story right then and there in the 1860's. I am asking anyone who has a copy of this book, to please email me at SMHSDWS@AOL.COM I am interested in purchasing another copy, as my only copy is quite worn out from reading it over and over again. Thank you.
