From the steamy, lava-hot core, to the icy plateau of doubt, and into alternate future dimensions, Angelstar 4: Inferno is a near faithless descent into the bowels of hell in a quest to reconquer the abyss and save an innocent soul from the nightmarish realm that lays claim to it.
Angelstar 4 is a continuation of blending styles - between philosophical discourse and a fantastical imaginary that has come to distinguish the Multiverse War Chronicles. This episode takes place largely within a meta-verse, and is hence the most "meta" storyline thus far - peering into the subtext in an examination of the Writer's relationship with hir story as s/he tussles with hir own melancholic rage and resentment in a reality simulation - in effect fleeing an overwhelming "reality" into fantasy though only to find another nightmare.
The primary battle of this adventure is surely a battle against the self, or at least what darkness exists within the pressure and anxiety of a dimension full of sickness and egoism. Old demons resurface as they tend to do in moments of despair and cognitive vulnerability, and as an extension of his Writer, Calugero fights to stay human and not become a monster himself in his encounter with the darkness and deformity of the human spirit. As he desperately seeks a way back toward hope, he battles the hellish monsters of the nether-realm with the fury of revenge in an adventure to hell and back to the future.
