An aging crime lord's plan to use a youngish wanna be writer to divert attention from his evil activities backfires when the unsuccessful writer turns successful detective. It deals with crime and drugs, using a hapless Everyman hero who bumbles his way through to victory. The writer's investigative article on an aged criminal is being mysteriously financed by an 'Angel'--an old show biz term for a financial backer. The writer's investigation into the old man's complex illegal activities is about to get him killed and it seems that only the old gangster, who secretly hired him to do the expose, can save him from a cast of thugs that include: a pair of three hundred pound professional wrestlers, half the city's police force, three sets of private security personnel, the mayor's bodyguards who're pissed off that Vox Virile, (the writer's alternative identity), snucked the boss's wife before they could, and a South American toxic land developer who dispatches a dreck of drug dealers to dismember our unheroic hero for easier burial. The writer finally brings the ancient Angel crashing to the ground. He even gets the girl - but, as always, there is a terrible price to pay - she finds out that he has a teaching degree.
