Unwilling to sacrifice morality, after learning he is married, Inez forces herself to walk away. Still, Thaddeus became the center of all her thoughts and dreams. Until she meets the love of her life, Joseph. Her grandmother explains that once the right man comes along, there will be nothing she can do because it would hit her like a "ton of bricks." Inez is sure Joseph is that "ton of bricks," and accepts his marriage proposal. Meanwhile, Thaddeus returns under the most unexpected circumstances and completely permeates her life.

Suddenly, Inez finds herself unable to escape a life of confusion and inner conflict, as the paranormal abilities of the wooden table appear to activate in their lives.
