Inspector Tim Gordon tells us a strange story that happened to him in England. Back then he was just a simple police officer of Scotland Yard. Some day he visits a friend, also police officer, in a provincial town just outside London. He is wandering around the city when he sees some people outside a farmhouse. He approaches and they tell him about a certain old professor who lives there.
But his neighbors haven't seen him for long. Tim calls his friend and they enter the house. There they see the corpse of the unfortunate professor. Immediately they call for help and they start investigating the place. Some hours later they will trace the murderer.
