"And While My Body Sleeps" is a book which takes the reader into the world of the paranormal, where time and distance are not barriers and in which death is not the end of existence. It is a twenty first century novel written in a charming, nineteenth century style. The style takes a bit of effort on the part of the reader at first, but it rapidly begins to seem entirely appropriate and comfortable as the author sweeps us into her story. The world she creates should seem bizarre and foreign to our experience, but somehow it doesn't. Felice regards the existence of paranormal abilities as part of the ordinary equipment of human beings, no more noteworthy than an ability to speak or to sing a song. In her hands it seems obvious that our latent abilities to communicate with each other using our thoughts alone can be enhanced and developed, and reasonable that they be used for positive purposes. The book begins with the rescue of an abducted child by "angels", which turn out to be college students led by their professor. The story is structured around Dr. Langston Paul Evans, Professor of Parapsychology, and his talented students at the fictional Fields University in Calvert, Wisconsin as they use meditation as the vehicle for projecting themselves in spirit to rescue children. But their adventures don't stop with rescues in the here and now. Along the way, we are introduced to a couple who, cheated out of a gloriously happy marriage by death in the 1880's are able, with the help of the "angels", to fulfill their lost relationship through their reincarnated spirits in the present. We are treated to communication with spirits stuck in their inability to move beyond the physical world reliving endlessly their frustration until shown the way to their next destination.Felice makes us aware of the pervasive goodness that surrounds us in the energy we create and the energy that other life gives back to us, the energy which allows us to journey through time and space merely with a thought. But she also introduces the notion of a darker energy that itself transcends the limits of time and distance. Though she doesn't develop these ideas, but merely touches on them in this first book, it's clear that they will be the vehicle for the protagonists in the sequel to this work, should there be one.I hope that you enjoy reading this book as much as I did, and that you try out some of the ideas to see if they are comfortable for you. As for me, I'm looking for the next book from the pen of Adrienne Felice.

This is one of the most amazing books I've read in a long time. The author uses her own experiences to write a novel that not only keeps you on the edge of your seat; but teaches many lessons about spirituality. In this time of terrorist attacks, we need all the spiritual help we can get. She makes all these lessons sound so matter of fact and so much a part of all of us. It's uplifting, hopeful and has taught me things I never thought about until I picked up this great read.Read it, you won't regret it.
