I find the stories without the famous detectives of great interest.

When you do not know the characters from other books, you are open to just about anything. No one has to survive in the next book. I came to this book backward after watching several movie versions. “And then there were none” had several titles before settling as ten people who change ethnicity and occupation. As one group is no longer politically correct, it gets changed. So the version for me was ten little soldiers. The basic story is an unlikely mix of characters who have been lured to an island by various means. There, they find out that there may be a nefarious plot that they soon become aware of. The first time I read through it, I was surprised to find that the story is not exactly what most of the movie versions portray. Later, I found that the book had more scenes without the need for gimmicks.
