I find the stories without the famous detectives of great interest.

When you do not know the characters from other books, you are open to just about anything. No one has to survive in the next book. I came to this book backward after watching several movie versions. “And Then There Were None” had several titles before settling on a story about ten people who change ethnicity and occupation. Since one version is no longer politically correct, it was changed. For me, the version was called “Ten Little Soldiers”. The basic story involves an unlikely group of characters who are lured to an island by different means. Once there, they discover that a sinister plot might be unfolding, which they soon become aware of. The first time I read it, I was surprised to discover that the story isn't exactly what most movie versions depict. Later, I realized that the book contained more scenes without any gimmicks.
