I love intelligent protagonists!

This book, like all of Jennifer Sturman's, has a truly intelligent heroine. In other words, chick lit, or in this case teen lit, done right. Ms. Sturman's first foray into the teen world is still every bit worth a read by her adult fans. Della is engaging, intelligent, and fun to hang out with for an evening. I couldn't stop turning the pages - and I can't wait for the sequel!

Jennifer Sturman's AND THEN EVERYTHING UNRAVELED tells of Delia, who is enjoying her California summer at the beach until her mother goes missing and she's sent to New York to live with two aunts. A snotty new school and a web of conspiracy involving her mother's vanishing challenges Delia's survival abilities in this fine story.

Delightful and suspenseful!

Delia Truesdale's life is turned upside down the day her mother's ship disappears on its way to Antarctica. Despite everyone's fervent belief that her mother is dead, Delia can't accept that her organized, precise mother could simply just drop off the face of the earth. But before she can fully comprehend the situation, she's sent from her home in Palo Alto to New York City to live her with two aunts, both polar opposites of each other. As Delia struggles to adjust to her new life and gets to know the family she's never met, she also begins to unravel some secrets her mother kept--dangerous ones that could unravel everything. Jennifer Sturman's first YA novel is absolutely wonderful. Delia's character is witty, down-to-earth, and engaging, and Sturman's many supporting characters are quirky and fallible, unique and wholly entertaining. The plot of the novel moves fairly quickly and packs in a lot of suspense as Delia moves cross country with her extended family and gets closer and closer to finding the truth about her mother's disappearance. Despite the gravity of her mother's situation, Delia manages to keep fairly upbeat, and And Then Everything Unraveled is a humorous read. Sturman writes with as much heart and feeling as Sarah Dessen, but also manages to throw in enough mystery, secrets, and danger to rival a Mary Higgins Clark novel. Sturman's engrossing new novel will have you laughing in delight at one moment, and on the edge of your seat in suspense in the next!

Delia is devastated by the news that her mother, T.K., is dead after going on an expedition to Antarctica. Although everyone around her thinks that this is the case, Delia knows in her heart that her mother is alive and out there somewhere, but no one believes her. So, she is sent off to live with her two aunts - who she's never met! - in New York. Once in New York, Delia is forced to go to a new school, make new friends, and adjust to the hectic New York life, all while still searching for her mother. She has to keep secrets from her aunts and find out who she can (and can't) trust in the process. AND THEN EVERYTHING UNRAVELED is a great mix of mystery, romance, and finding your inner strength in the face of adversity. The characters are intriguing, and the book keeps you on edge right until the very end! Reviewed by: Angela S.

This book just got me.

I felt like this book just got me. It was a mix of my favorite things, a little sleuthing (I love Veronica Mars) a pair of crazy aunts (I love Pushing Daisies) one who has fabulous taste in 80s movies, a cute boy, New York City and ice cream. Yes, there is a lot of ice cream in this book, I kid you not! I just loved this book. I loved the mystery in the story and really I still don't know how it going to end, can you say sequel! I found the book really funny too, Delia's descriptions of her cousin's facial expressions, just priceless. And Delia in general was just a great character, I really liked her. She was one of many strong characters in a great cast. They were all unique from the P.I. with the cute ties to Natalie the girl that promised her parents she would go to a party to work on her social skills! There are so many elements in this story I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to find out that the story is left open for a sequel. I need that sequel NOW! It ends with so many unanswered questions, I must know what's going to happen! It reminded me a lot of how Kiss Me, Kill Me and Kisses and Lies acted together, almost thinking of the first book and sequel as one book split into two. I found this to be a great opener to a really interesting story. I can't wait to see where the story picks up and check out some of the author's adult titles in the meantime.
