Elliott H. Wells kept a journal of his life from his induction into the U.S. Army National Guard in New Hampshire to his country's declaration of war to the Axis powers in 1941. His grandson, Matthew Craig, deciphered his handwriting, and resurrected this journal from decades of intentional interment.
