After being shot in the face and blinded, Matt Doyle, Philly Homicide, opens a small detective agency with his wife Kelley, a retired homicide cop named Ed Westphal and his guide dog Buster. When the lawyer for a small time Philly mobster arrested for murder hires Matt to find an alibi witness, a woman named Maureen, Matt finds her, dead, throat slit, tied to a bed. A killer is back after an absence of eight years, a killer Matt failed to find while with Philly PD, before being blinded. Was it coincidence the killer came back and killed a woman he was looking for? Matt quickly discovers the killer is a whiskey soaked voice on the telephone named Leon. Leon taunts Matt for not catching him eight years before. It's all a game with Leon, with a series of killings generated by the taunting. The end of the game for Leon is the taking of Kelley to an abandoned warehouse by the river and daring Matt to rescue her. Leon tells Matt he wants to know if Matt will come to the warehouse, knowing he will also die, or will he leave his wife to die alone. Leon says he is betting Matt comes to the warehouse.
