A great space opera

I've read this book at least five times, and I will read it again. The premise is brilliant - a vast space ship is collapsed into a single person upon its destruction. Because that person/spaceship doesn't understand gender, it constantly misgenders everyone by accident, and readers can rarely be sure who is male and female. There are multiple timelines woven together, so you do have to pay attention. This is one of my favorite science fiction novels.

You will enjoy eating chalk more than reading this.

The rare book I will escort to the bin rather than gift, donate or sell. I won't elaborate on the scant enjoyable bits, nor grace the repulsive lot with descriptors. The book is dull.

Over the last fifty years or so, the cover art of our books has changed a lot. This is true across a wide mix of genres. With the recent news that mass market paperbacks are facing extinction, we've decided to look into the cover art evolution of a few more of our favorite genres.
