Product Description

Set in San Diego during the 1970s, TV anchorman Ron Burgandy is the town's leading man as top player of the area's top rated news show. Loved by women and idolized by men, Ron has the fast track to a network anchor position all to himself, until the station brings in a female newscaster. Now that the gender barrier has been broken, Ron is torn between his growing feelings for the new girl and the professional rivalry the two share at work. With the competition breathing down his back, Ron must make all the right moves to secure the gig and keep the girl.

Tried too hard to be campy.

The basic story is about a chauvinist anchorman who is replaced by a woman. In the process, we get several gags from “West Side Story.” The back story is San Diego, and something is going on with a panda. This movie is a good idea, but poorly executed. They tried too hard to be campy. When all else failed, they filled in with lewdness or gratuitous potty mouth. For people who think they are watching the wrong version, that just might be because there is a theatrical version and an extended cut. The voice-over commentary on the DVD is worse than the movie. So, if you watch streaming that is missing the commentary, you have not missed anything.
