When his promising career in college basketball is cut short due to a knee injury, a young man named Colby Oblander takes a job as a ranch hand in western Oklahoma where his father, who died when he was still a baby and who he had long been interested in learning more about had also worked as a young man; What he learns after becoming involved with three different women has the potential to ruin his life as age old taboos and unlawful relationships buried in secrecy are revealed until Colby is driven to the edge of psychological desperation with his life hanging in the balance. This is a fast paced, easily read, story which needs not a lot of fluff in the telling, having characters and situations anyone might know or have experienced and is not being weighted down by being overly descriptive just to fill white space in the paper it's written on. It also reveals that even perfect love has imperfections and it doesn't ignore or gloss over the fact that everyone has their own frailties. For those who may have thought or believed that only women can write romance, it provides an alternate view of it from a young straight male perspective, which may well surprise them.
