A fun summer adventure for teens!

After a humiliating incident and relentless bullying leave her feeling shattered, Josie seeks refuge by spending her summer on a picturesque South Carolina island with her Aunt. Her new beginning of friendship and fun takes an adventurous turn when thefts begin happening on the island, and she decides to solve the mystery herself. This fun YA novel paints a vivid portrait of a teen girl's journey of self-discovery, navigating the complexities of staying true to herself amid the pressures of adolescence. The plot moves quickly, interweaving themes of faith, friendships, and a blossoming young romance. Josie has remarkable character development throughout the story and I enjoyed watching her grow and learn that there are things more important than her reputation among her peers. I also enjoyed the story's message about the importance of compassion for refugees and immigrants. Due to its candid exploration of high school issues, including mentions of bullying, parties, and rude remarks, I would recommend this book for older teens.
