An UnConventional Murder: A Raging Granny Mystery

"Patchwork" is a collection of intimate, painful and/or hilarious accounts of the life and times of a woman born in Kansas City, Mo. in the depths of the Great Depression. After college, she escaped to Manhattan, where, though newly married, she fell deeply in love with an irresistible young sculptor, just becoming recognized by New York critics and art lovers. They lived for a year in Florence, Italy, then in rural New Jersey, where she became a dedicated anti-nuclear weapons activist. Later, in California, she worked for thirty years as a psychotherapist with all kinds of people, only some of them literally insane, including many women in jail. Now, after raising three splendid children (and admittedly failing to elevate her three husbands by a fragment of an inch), she brings us honest stories from her long life, written in the colorful manner of the fiction writer she is in her two novels, the feminist/politico/mysteries, "Dangerous Women" (2011) and "An Un-Conventional Murder" (2013). Since moving to Santa Cruz in 1996, she has been an active member of an anti-war group, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. As a member of the Santa Cruz Raging Grannies, she has written and sung hundreds of devastating political parodies, some of which are included in this volume.
