2 Peter is a letter of remembrance to those who are plague by darkness within and without, both in the community of faith and the inhabited world and how to survive in these dark places. He makes an extraordinary claim that humans can be sharers of divine nature and to become like Jesus, having escape the corruption of lust in the world.

What Peter write here is nothing new but recollections and reminders which he made no apology for. This letter is important also because he helps to clear any doubt about false teachers and expose their distorted theology. He warns faithful outliers not to let their own instincts and impulses, greed and presumption to cause them to stumble and fall away, incurring the same wrath and judgement on those who reject and rebel against God and His grace.
