Dick Snavely reveals some of his childhood experiences and personal challenges that prepared him to organize and lead Family Life Ministries for nearly fifty years. These experiences include miracles,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I knew Dick Snavely from my teen years--1960s--in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. I have always admired the enthusiam and gusto that he manifested in his life and work. This book shows that he came of resourceful Mennonite stock that valued hard work and the dollar. Dick followed his father into evangelical Christianity when he was about nineteen years old, finding the once saved always saved mentality a delightful alternative to the teachings he found in the Mennonite faith. Dick has remained true to the evangelical faith. The second half of the book is primarily about building the radio stations. I chuckled to read of tractors pulling cement trucks out of axle-deep muck in a farmer's field while enroute to pouring footers/foundation for a radio tower. This memoir will make an excellent gift for the evangelical Christian--or for anyone curious about evangelical Chrstianity--on your gift list. To God be the glory sums up what Dick Snavely stands for.
To God Be the Glory

My wife and I are committed listeners to The Family Life Network. We've always enjoyed "Focus on the Family," with Dobson. The music is all Christian, and some of the stuff is very interesting. We love The Morning Show with John and Denny, and The Randy-Man. The Randy-Man is Randy Snavely, son of Dick Snavely, author of this book. I never figured I'd be into a book concerning FLN's history. That is, until I talked with Randy Snavely for a good 15 minutes one night, and I changed my mind. It was a great conversation! Randy always tries to keep John and Denny in check, but ends up provoking them half the time! Plus I live in Franklinville, New York, so I was a little curious as to what happened in those days in Western New York. Quite a lot, and Dick Snavely tells his story of how it all got started. Dick Snavely didn't have to be fancy to tell the story. He told his own story in his own words, and it was interesting. The childhood stories are classic, some of them flat out hilarious! From tobacco fields to shattering glass, to a Mennonite upbringing, he really hides nothing. He talks about his education, how he never took it seriously at first, and then in college took in very seriously. He takes his commitment to Jesus Christ very seriously, and he takes Family Life Ministries very seriously. The stories come from a faith, and God gets all the glory in each instance. Dick Snavely never strays away from the fact the God gets all the glory in every situation! "To God be the glory" will always stick out in my mind after reading this. Being a first time author shows a bit in this, but that's minor. Allow yourself to get caught up in this! I did. I'm glad I did. I'm blessed to have had a conversation with Randy Snavely. Dick Snavely shows us the measure of a man in this, and he shows true heart through every page. It teaches a lesson in giving our all. It demonstrates how we should give God the glory each and every time! To God be the glory! Thank you, Dick Snavely.
