This book was fascinating.Through the eyes of realistic and well-developed characters, Dirck Brendlinger weaves a mystery that is entralling. This author has taken what could have been a very difficult concept in physics and made it crystal clear for any layman. Readers won't believe the chilling ending that serves to remind us all of two time-proven adages: "Be careful what you wish for" and "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

With the mastery of an experienced writer, Dr. Brendlinger takes control from page one of this excellent first novel, engaging the reader's interest in both plot and characters. The reader is drawn into a most improbable situation by familiar and convincing details and kept there by careful consistency. Even a cynic can't find a lapse in the world Dr. Brendlinger has created. Disbelief is willingly suspended, and the reader joins up for a great ride.An Insubstantial Man has the technical expertise and sharp pacing to please the most demanding fan of scientific/medical thrillers. More, it is has the careful construction and skillful use of language all readers will appreciate. The dialogue is natural, the images fresh and apt. You'll care how it ends but even more, you'll enjoy getting there.
You will not put it down!

You will not be able to put it down. The main character Clay Taylor must run for his life after being involved in a lab experiment that went wrong. Where can he go? Who can he trust? and how can he undo what has happened to him? It's a fast paced, well written book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Well written novel

I admit my expectations were limited when I bought this POD book, because a lot of POD stuff is not so hot. This one is a glittering exception. This guy writes a story that's hard to put down -- I know, I started it intending to read a chapter or two at a time, but ended up spending a whole Saturday on it, partly because it takes place in my part of the world, San Diego. The characters seem real and the science is easy to handle, even for me. It seems well researched and meticulously consistent, and the ending is really a blast! It's a fun, easy read, and I recommend it.
