Jules Mendelson is wealthy. Astronomically so. He and his wife lead the kind of charity-giving, art-filled, high-society life for which each has been carefully groomed. Until Jules falls in love with Flo March, a beautiful actress/waitress. What Flo discovers about the superrich is not a pretty sight. And in the end, she wants no more than what she was promised. But when Flo begins to share the true story of her life among the Mendelsons, not everyone is in a listening mood. And some cold shoulders have very sharp edges. . . . From the Paperback edition.

Oh what fun it is to watch the filthy rich folk suffer! Flo and Jules were so perfectly played by Rebecca DeMornay and Jason Robards in the mini series from many years ago. I miss those juicy old sagas -- An Inconvenient Woman, Thornbirds, even V (remember the alien lizards?). This story has all the bite, sizzle and finesse that Dunne fans love.

This has to be one of Mr. Dunne's best books. Having read all of his books, I think this is the best. It has many fascinating characters and true to his style, he definitely knows how to keep his readers interested. If you love Mr. Dunne, you will love this book.

Dominck Dunne's captivating tale of a wealthy man and his mistress is loosely based on the story of Vicky Morgan and Alfred Bloomingdale. Whether you followed that story or not, you will find this book hard to put down.

This is one of several Dominick Dunne books that I have read, and definitely one if his best. The characters are so vividly written that you feel you are voyeur in the lives of these rich and fancy people.Dominick Dunne writes with such flow that you really hate when you come to the end of the book. Definitely a must read for Dominick Dunne fans like me.
