An Immigrant in Zombie Country

As described in "A Tourist in Zombie Country", the scientists have discovered the origin of the zombie pandemic. But they opened a Pandora's box of additional questions. As a result the French dispatch one more expedition to America, this time to Astoria, Oregon. When the troops arrive in their base in Alabama in order to prepare for the long road trip to the West Coast, they are confronted with an unexpected danger, namely a new Confederacy, an aggressive slaveholder society located north of the Tennessee River. An armed conflict ensues, which will continue to simmer. The detachment sent to Oregon returns with samples of primitive extraterrestrial life forms. After this trip the former Swiss tourist decides to join the village in Alabama on a permanent basis. He returns to Europe once more in order to settle his private affairs. On his last day in his home town he and his friend Jim are held up by a mugger. He kills the mugger, and they flee the country. Law enforcement catches up with them, but the attempt to arrest the two friends ends in failure. After this incident our hero can finally lean back and enjoy his retirement in zombie country.
