This study focuses on understanding the career preferences of college students in Coimbatore city and examines the various factors that influence their career decision-making process. The research explores how personal interests, educational background, family expectations, socio-economic conditions, peer influence, and awareness of job opportunities shape students' career aspirations. The study highlights that career preference is a dynamic process influenced by both individual motivations and external environmental factors.Using a descriptive research design, primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire from students belonging to different academic streams. The analysis identifies major career choices such as private sector employment, government jobs, entrepreneurship, and higher education. The findings indicate that students generally prioritize job security, better salary, career growth opportunities, and work-life balance while selecting careers. Psychological aspects such as confidence, fear of unemployment, social pressure, and future expectations also play a significant role in shaping career decisions.
