In this study, the concepts of leadership and performance are emphasized. Leadership theories from past to present are discussed in detail. The effects of the applied leadership styles on the performance of the employees were investigated. A public institution was chosen as the research unit in the study. 92 personnel took part in the research. The data required for the research were obtained through a questionnaire. In the study, it was aimed to determine the effects of job-personal leadership styles on job performance by making use of the demographic characteristics of the employees and the units they work in. The data obtained as a result of the survey application were analyzed using the SPSS 11.0 package program. Regression analysis was used where deemed necessary according to the nature of the statistical analysis data. The survey results were evaluated according to seniority, working time and title. As a result, it was determined that the job oriented scores were higher than the person oriented scores in military organizations and missions. This study focuses on the leadership and performance concepts and leadership theories from past to today in detail. It is also analyzed the effects of the leadership performed on the employees performance.
