An Awakening: The Day I Realized the Footprints In the Sand Were My Own

"An Awakening" is my personal journey through life. It has not been a smooth path to travel, but it has led me to the place I am now. I have overcome so many things in my life, but the one thing that was the hardest to overcome was religion. Looking back, I can see how indoctrination or just the general acceptance of a god or gods existing can make a person fearful. In my life, the belief in god was just "a given". It was never to be questioned or rejected. Praying to god gave me solace in the moment, but it never made me feel that way for long. My understanding of life and reality now is not a rejection of any supreme being. It is an acceptance of reality. I am not angry nor do I hate the figment of man's imagination. If anything, I am happier now than I have ever been. Realizing that I make my own path in life and it is not already planned out for me has caused me to open my eyes wider than ever before. I wrote this to let others know who are on a similar path that they are not alone. They too can be awakened from the coma called religion.
