I have created this book to be a journal enabling you to write down your questions, thoughts and concerns as you learn about this process of amputation. Walking through elective amputation is one of the hardest things I will ever do in my life. I was forced to make the decision to amputate my left foot without the help of medical professionals. Unfortunately, this decision is often left up to the patient. I had little to no resources during my decision making process and even fewer after amputation. I had to figure it out as I experienced it. In this guide: I have gathered and written down all of the questions I have had along the way. I discuss the difference in socket systems so you will be informed before visiting your prosthetist. I have gathered a list of proven doctors willing to help with elective amputation and listed them by state for you. There are so many changes that take place after amputation that I never expected, like my body temperature regulation. I name these oddities and help you with the unexpected. I cover all of the details you don't know to ask about. I have created the resource I wish I would have had before, during and after my elective amputation.
